At the Local Business Institute, we represent you—the small, local business owner. But we don’t do it alone. It takes a village, or at least a strong cohort of organizations working on your behalf. We’re proud to be a part of several national entities that amplify our voice and yours. Since you may not even know this is going on, let me introduce you to one of our newest alliances on the national level.
We recently joined Small Business Majority to support their advocacy work. Along with Small Business Rising and ILSR, these organizations are a powerhouse of advocacy in Washington DC and nationwide. We are proud to work in conjunction with them on major issues such as reigning in monopolies, lowering credit card swipe fees, opposing Medicaid cuts and supporting funding for small business programs.
But our advocacy role has three sides. As mentioned, lending our voice to issues important to local business and signing letters and proposals to support this. Two—Letting you know what’s happening on the national front . And lastly, enlisting your help to speak up when a legislator wants to talk to a local business about a pending issue. We hope you’ll respond when we reach out to you—you play an important and integral part of the communication process.
After all, everything we do is for you.
