We’re Vocal for Local
The world is a bit chaotic these days. But isn’t it always on some level? Small business entrepreneurs are a resilient bunch. We have to be. Small businesses lack the extensive resources that big business enjoys. But what we lack in resources, we make up for in ingenuity, persistence, determination, creativity and just sheer will of force. Small, local business owners make it happen every day. Through ideas and innovations large and small, we reinvent, recreate and reenergize.
But this doesn’t mean it’s easy—far from it. Running a small business usually extracts all that we have to give and then some. But the joy of what we do, contributions to our communities—fiscally and culturally, the creation of something that didn’t exist before, and the satisfaction of building and growing a team overrides the pain. Yet we need our larger entrepreneur tribe to talk and learn and share.
The Local Business Institute (LBI) has a role to play in this small business ecosystem and a large part of that role is our voice. In policy advocacy, our voice is your voice. But there’s another voice—Our (with a capital O) voice. We have conversations with local leaders and businesses across the nation that are informative, comforting, illuminating and more. Now we’ve collected some of those conversations in podcasts available for you anytime.
Introducing the Power of Local Podcasts where we are always Vocal for Local. Join LBI co-founders Rebecca Melançon and Vicky Valdez for a lively and quick talk (typically 15 minutes) about all things local business. The podcasts are honest, direct and fun.
We produce new podcasts throughout the month so stay connected through the Power of Local newsletter. We want to hear from you too! Have ideas you’d like for us to discuss? Contact us at podcast@localbusinessinstitute.org. We remain Vocal for Local always!
