One of our LocalFirst Community members, Colin Murray, owner of Kylie’s Gift Cottage and former director of Dane Buy Local, shared a clever idea to declare your business a “Tariff-Free Zone” It’s an attention-grabbing way to position your store as a place where customers can shop without worrying about price hikes due to tariffs. It also plays into a sense of community and affordability, making it clear that you’re putting customers first.
How to Present It on Social Media:
- Keep It Light & Playful:
- “While the world gets tariffed, [your business name] stays tariff-FREE! No politics—just great gifts at fair prices.”
- “Trade wars? Not here! Shop our Tariff-Free Zone for [your product or service] at fair prices. No extra fees, just extra love.”
- Use a Simple Graphic or Sticker:
- A badge that says “Tariff-Free Zone” could be placed on images of your store, products, or even on your window as a fun sign.
- Something like: “Prices You Can Count On – No Extra Fees, Just Extra Joy!”
- Tie It to Supporting Local Business:
- “We believe in fair prices, fair trade, and fair fun! Shop small, shop smart, and skip the tariff talk at [your business name].”
- Make It a Customer Incentive:
- “No tariffs here, but plenty of treats! Mention this post and get 10% off any locally made item.”
